ELI Summer School 2025 (Day 2)

We continue our participation in the ELI Summer School! A highlight of the day was the presentation by Nobel Prize laureate Donna Strickland, who shared her experience and achievements in nonlinear optics and high-intensity laser physics.
Topics discussed included:

  • From Nonlinear Optics to High-Intensity Laser Physics – Donna Strickland, Nobel Prize laureate (University of Waterloo, Canada)
  • Science of High Harmonic Generation and Attosecond Pulses – Katalin Várjú (ELI ERIC, ALPS facility, Hungary)
  • The Physics of Laser Plasma Interaction in Inertial Fusion and High Energy Density Phenomena – Ondřej Klimo (Czech Technical University, Czech Republic)
  • Dynamic Compression Experiments: Replicating Planetary Interior States in the Laboratory – John Eggert (Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, USA)
  • Magnetized Plasmas in the Context of Inertial Confinement Fusion – Chikang Li (Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA)
  • Basics and Challenges of Inertial Confinement Fusion – Laurent Masse (French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission, France)
  • ELI Instrumentation for HEDP – Raj Singh Laxmi (ELI ERIC, Beamlines facility, Czech Republic)

The second day was filled with presentations from leading scientists around the world, sharing the latest achievements and future perspectives in laser physics, inertial fusion, and high-energy density research. We are eagerly looking forward to the upcoming days of the program!
