ELI Summer School 2025 (Day 5)

The final, fifth day of the ELI Summer School focused on quantum aspects, ultrafast spectroscopy, and novel tools for exploring matter at the nanoscale. Participants had the opportunity to dive into groundbreaking advances in laser science and discover how these technologies open new horizons in studying ultrafast processes.
Topics discussed included:
- Quantum Aspects of High Harmonic Generation – Hamed Merdji (École Polytechnique, France)
- What Can We Learn from Looking Inside Nanoparticles with Intense XUV Light? – Maria Krikunova (Technische Hochschule Wildau, Germany)
- Attosecond and Soft-X-ray Spectroscopy of Liquids – Hans Jakob Wörner (ETH Zürich, Switzerland)
- Vibrational Dynamics of Electronically Excited Metal Complexes: Relaxation, Coherence, and Ultrafast Raman Spectroscopy – Antonin Vlček (Queen Mary University of London, UK / Czech Academy of Sciences, Czech Republic)
- Spectroscopic Mueller Matrix Ellipsometry for Control of Plasmonic and Dielectric Metasurfaces – Morten Kildemo (Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Norway)
- Ultrafast Momentum Microscopy – A Novel Tool for Imaging Charge and Spin Carriers in Solids on Ultrafast Timescales – Benjamin Stadtmueller (University of Augsburg, Germany)
The fifth day concluded the program, leaving participants inspired and with a renewed vision of the future of laser and quantum technologies. The closing of the school served as a powerful finale, highlighting the perspectives of further research in global science.

The ELI Summer School program continued with inspiring talks focused on space exploration, innovative chemistry and technology, and laboratory methods for recreating extreme cosmic conditions.

The fourth day opened a window into the world of space missions, laboratory recreations of extreme states of matter, and the advancement of cutting-edge X-ray technologies. Once again, ELI proves to be a unique platform that unites diverse directions of modern science.

The day provided a unique opportunity to explore the development of laser-plasma accelerators, their potential for fundamental research, and perspectives for practical applications – from medicine to new methods in nuclear physics. Even more exciting discussions and discoveries lie ahead!

We continue our participation in the ELI Summer School! A highlight of the day was the presentation by Nobel Prize laureate Donna Strickland, who shared her experience and achievements in nonlinear optics and high-intensity laser physics.

ELI Summer School 2025 (Day 1)

The Extreme Light Infrastructure Summer School (ELISS) has kicked off its 10th anniversary program, bringing together young scientists and researchers in the field of laser technologies for a decade.
On the first day, our department members joined a rich program, which included:
- Lecture: Ultrafast high power laser technology – Clara Saraceno (Ruhr-Universität Bochum, Germany)
- Lecture: Spatio-temporal couplings in ultrashort pulses – Daniel Ursescu (ELI NP, Romania)

We are excited to be part of this international scientific event and look forward to continuing the program in the upcoming days.

On August 24, our country celebrates its main national holiday – the Independence Day of Ukraine. On this day in 1991, the restoration of Ukrainian statehood was proclaimed, marking the historic choice of our people – to live in a free, democratic, and sovereign nation.
Independence is not only the right to choose our own path, but also a great responsibility for the future. It inspires us to develop science and education, to strengthen our state, and to preserve our culture and traditions.
