Participation Open: V All-Ukrainian Engineering Hackathon SmaRTF

The Department of Physical Foundations of Electronic Engineering invites students and everyone interested to join the V All-Ukrainian Engineering Hackathon SmaRTF on the topic “SMART MILITARY ELECTRONICS 4.0”! This is a unique opportunity to “level up” your skills, propose innovative solutions in military electronics, and help our Defenders bring Victory closer.
Theme and Goal: Participants are challenged to create an invention – a device or system capable of changing the course of the war and assisting the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), focusing on the development of smart military electronics.

Meeting with Representatives of Sigma Software

On September 18, the Head of the PFEE Department visited the Sigma Software office in Lviv as part of the ongoing collaboration between NURE and Sigma University. During the visit, he had the pleasure of meeting with Program Manager Olha Levchenko, who gave a tour of the office and introduced the museum of vintage computer technology located on the company’s premises.
The meeting included discussions on further cooperation opportunities between the department and Sigma University in the areas of education, research, and student practical training.

Visit of Department Representatives to the Laser Research Center of Vilnius University

From September 26 to 28, the Head of the PFEE Department, Oleksandr Hnatenko, together with Senior Lecturer Mykola Gerasymenko, visited the Laser Research Center of the Faculty of Physics at Vilnius University (VU Fizikos fakultetas) and met with the Director of the Center, Dalia Kaškelytė.
During the visit, the parties discussed prospects for joint projects in the field of laser technologies and photonics and agreed to sign a cooperation agreement in the near future. Particular attention was given to opportunities for student and faculty exchange, as well as participation in international research programs. The representatives of the department also had the opportunity to take part in an insightful tour of the Center and explore its unique laboratories.
We sincerely thank our Lithuanian colleagues for their warm welcome and openness to partnership. Ahead lies fruitful cooperation and new scientific achievements!

Cooperation of the Department with Lithuanian Scientists and the Lithuanian Laser Association

On September 29, 2025, the Head of the PFEE Department Oleksandr Hnatenko, together with Senior Lecturer Mykola Gerasymenko, during their visit to Lithuania, held a series of productive meetings at the Center for Physical and Technological Sciences.
During the visit, discussions were held with the center’s researchers — Romualdas Trusovas and Henrik Mordas. The focus was on opportunities for joint research and prospects for further cooperation.
Additionally, a meeting took place with the Executive Director of the Lithuanian Laser Association, Kristina Ananičienė, during which the parties discussed current issues and the development of laser technologies in Ukraine. Common strategic directions were identified that will contribute to strengthening the partnership between the Association and NURE.

Working Visit of the Department Staff to Lviv Polytechnic National University

On September 18, 2025, the Head of the PFEE Department Oleksandr Hnatenko, together with department assistant Olha Levchenko, paid a working visit to Lviv Polytechnic National University.
During the visit, a meeting was held with Prof. Iryna Yaremchuk, Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation, where the parties discussed prospects for cooperation in the fields of optics, optoelectronics, and electronics.
Meetings were also held with the heads of leading departments of the Institute of Information and Communication Technologies and Electronic Engineering. The guests were introduced to modern laboratories of the Departments of Electronic Engineering, Electronic Information and Computer Technology, Semiconductor Electronics, and other research units.
As a result of the visit, possible areas of further cooperation were identified. The first step will be the signing of a cooperation agreement between the universities, which will be announced in future news.

Online Event “Open New Horizons with Sigma Software University”

On September 11, first-year students of the FOET Department, led by Associate Professor Elena Linnyk, took part in the online event Open New Horizons with Sigma Software University. The meeting was aimed at introducing young people to current trends in the IT industry and opening new opportunities for their professional development.
During the event, the following speakers shared their experience:
– Volodymyr Yantsov, L&D Program Manager – outlined the main directions of IT development today, the role of artificial intelligence, and the key knowledge students need at the beginning of their professional journey.
– Yordana Shovheniuk, Junior UI/UX Designer at Sigma Software – spoke about her internship at Sigma Software University and her subsequent career path in the company’s design team.
– Vladyslav Biletskyi, Senior Software Developer at Sigma Software – shared his professional growth story from intern to Senior Developer, as well as practical advice for students.
The event was moderated by Olha Levchenko, L&D Program Manager at Sigma Software.
